Australian Merino For European Conditions
Once in a lifetime, if you are very lucky, you find the project that fires you with such passion that you devote life, energy and resources to seeing it through to the end. For us, bringing the very best Australian Superfine Merino to the UK, is that project. Come with us and explore our journey.
Our Sheep
For 15 years we have developed, grown and refined our flock by importing the finest genetics from Australia. These are not "British Merino" but the best modern Australian Superfines specially selected from some of the best studs in the world and bred for UK and European conditions. We have export health status and can send our Merinos to all EU countries.
Our wool
We produce Superfine wool of around 16.5 micron. Think Savile Row suits and next to skin base layers rather than coarser, High St Merino jumpers. Elite, bright white, top quality wool with a unique and special "crimp" which defines this particular style of Merino wool.
Our farm
Westcott Farm has existed for more than 1000 years. Sheep and this land are bound together. Too high and the wrong soil type for crops, it grows wonderful traditional native meadow grasses and flowers which the thrifty Merino sheep love and do well on. Wildlife thrives here in our quiet, traditionally managed environment on the edge of Exmoor. We enjoy being the latest in a long line of custodians of this magical place.
About us
Tellenby Merino is a commercial stud producing quality Superfine Merino sheep for its own use and also for export to the EU. So far sheep have gone to Switzerland and Romania with more orders currently for Austria and Spain.

The stud is situated on Westcott Farm in Devon, high up on the edge of Exmoor. Visitors with a commercial interest in Superfine Merino are welcome by appointment.
